Originally, while a Jedi Padawan, Dooku uses a different lightsaber than the one that would become popular later on.

However, while a Jedi Master, Dooku constructs the curved lightsaber that he would wield thereafter. He creates the lightsaber using a personalized design, one that has no connection to his master, Yoda, or to the norms of the time. Dooku studies the records of the Jedi Archive to make the design, creating the lightsaber to suit his technique. As a duelist, Dooku favors long, elegant moves and deftness of hand, hence the lightsaber’s curved design. Originally using a blue blade as a Jedi, after becoming a Sith, Dooku utilizes a red kyber crystal provided to him by Darth Sidious, resulting in the blade becoming red.
Early Usage
Dooku wields his curved lightsaber during his time as a Jedi Master, becoming known for his exceptional skills as a lightsaber duelist.

He wields it when dueling with Yoda to demonstrate their lightsaber skills to a group of younglings. During a mission to search for the son of Senator Dagonet, Dooku wields his lightsaber to defend villagers. It is also during this time that he experiences a call to the Dark Side of the Force. Dooku eventually loses faith in the Jedi Order, leaving it and reclaiming the title of Count of Serenno. Eventually, Dooku is approached by Darth Sidious, and accepts his offer to become the leader of the Separatist Alliance. During a meeting between Dooku and Sidious, Jedi Master Yaddle confronts them. Dooku and Yaddle then duel with their lightsabers, with the Count managing to defeat her. With this affirming his commitment to the Sith, Sidious then formally takes Dooku on as his apprentice, naming him Darth Tyranus.
First Battle of Geonosis
Count Dooku travels to Geonosis, taking his lightsaber with him. There, he meets with leaders of the commerce guilds to get them to pledge their allegiance, officially creating the Separatist Alliance.

However, his meeting is seen by Obi-Wan Kenobi, who ends up on Geonosis after tracking down Jango Fett. Kenobi attempts to send a message to the Galactic Republic, and although he is interrupted, his transmission is sent through thanks to the help of his apprentice, Anakin Skywalker. The Republic then invades Geonosis with its newly created army of clone troopers, resulting in a battle between the clones and the droid army of the Separatist Alliance. Dooku then flees to his private hangar in order to escape, but is followed and confronted by Kenobi and Skywalker. In the ensuing lightsaber duel, Dooku is able to best both Jedi, but is soon interrupted by the arrival of Yoda. Dooku and Yoda then duel fiercely with their lightsabers, but the Count is unable to get the better of his former master. Dooku then causes a distraction, and takes the opportunity to escape in his solar sailer.
Clone Wars
Following the First Battle of Geonosis, the Clone Wars begins, with Republic and Separatist forces battling for control of the galaxy.

As leader of the Separatist Alliance, Dooku wields his lightsaber on many occasions throughout the war. Some notable instances include multiple duels with Anakin Skywalker, a duel with both Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi on Oba Diah, a duel with the Nightsisters on Serenno, and many more. At one point during the Clone Wars, Dooku is taken by Hondo Ohnaka and his men on Vanqor, and transported to Florrum. His lightsaber is confiscated and shown as proof to the Republic that Ohnaka does indeed have the Count. However, Dooku later recovers it and escapes from Florrum. Also during the Clone Wars, Dooku uses his lightsaber to train two Sith apprentices - Asajj Ventress and Savage Opress. However, both their apprenticeships under him do not last, and he later duels them both. Dooku also uses his lightsaber to train the leader of the Separatist Droid Army, General Grievous, who quickly becomes a feared opponent.
Battle of Coruscant
During the waning days of the Clone Wars, Dooku and his Separatist forces launch an offense on Coruscant, managing to take Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, the leader of the Galactic Republic. Dooku and General Grievous hold him aboard the Invisible Hand, Grievous’ flagship. Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi then launch a mission to rescue the Supreme Chancellor, managing to board the Invisible Hand. There, they find Palpatine, but are soon confronted by Dooku, who then engages them in a lightsaber duel. Although Dooku is able to best Kenobi, Skywalker manages to overpower him, ridding the Count of his lightsaber. Skywalker then takes Dooku’s lightsaber, and at the urging of Palpatine, defeats the Sith Lord once and for all. After Dooku’s defeat, his lightsaber is left behind aboard the Invisible Hand in Grievous’ quarters, which are destroyed shortly thereafter.
