Design
Leia’s lightsaber has a blue blade powered by a kyber crystal in the core of the hilt. The lightsaber’s hilt is silver and copper in color, and its design is considered to be a work of art.

It has an elegant symmetry with silver and gold hues that evoke Leia’s upbringing on Alderaan. The narrow and ringed emitter of the saber has a similar appearance to that of Luke Skywalker's lightsaber. Curved metal grips around the midsection surround the crystal that powers the saber.
Training
After the Battle of Endor, Leia begins training with her brother, Luke Skywalker, on Ajan Kloss. She uses her lightsaber for sparring sessions, and becomes her brother's first Padawan.

She is immensely skilled with the lightsaber, however she eventually discontinues her training after sensing misfortune at the end of her Jedi path. Leia gives her lightsaber to Luke, asking him to pass it on to someone else someday. Luke keeps the lightsaber, and takes it with him when he goes into exile on Ahch-To.
Carried by Rey
Luke eventually gives the lightsaber to Rey, believing that Leia would want her to have it. During the Battle of Exegol, Rey uses the lightsabers of Leia and Anakin to redirect the reborn Emperor Palpatine’s force lightning towards him, ultimately defeating him. Afterwards, Rey constructs her own yellow-bladed lightsaber. She then buries the lightsabers of Leia and Anakin on Tatooine at the Lars homestead.
